Filter Media Cleaning | Air Stripping Towers | Water Infrastructure Surfaces
Blue Earth Products’ chemical cleaning solutions are formulated to extend the life an efficiency of any municipal water treatment and water storage infrastructure to aid utilities in meeting regulatory requirements. Chemical cleaning helps restore existing systems saving municipalities time and money.
Filter Media Cleaning

Organic and Inorganic deposits accumulate on filter media leading to shorter run times, higher head loss, mixing of media, uneven backwashes, mud balls, channeling, and other operational problems – all of which affect the performance, effectiveness, and capacity of the filter. It is a common misconception that filter media requires replacement every 10-15 years to address such issues. Blue Earth Products can restore filter media to like-new conditions with our chemical cleaning solutions saving time and money on replacement.
Our filter media cleaning process is performed in place without disturbing the filter media in the filter bed. Our products penetrate the depth of the bed to the underdrains to effectively remove deposits including algae, biofilms, iron, manganese, and calcium scale. The process is safe and effective on a wide range of media types including anthracite, sand, greensand, GAC, and other specialty media.
Blue Earth Products has a specialized lab equipped to perform comprehensive chemical, physical, and microscopic analysis of your filter media. Our testing will determine the type of deposits and extent of surface deposition to provide an optimal cleaning solution and the expected longevity of the media components.
Air Stripping Towers

Air stripping towers used in municipal and industrial applications become fouled with deposits resulting in biofilm and scaling on the transfer media and infrastructure. Buildup of biofilm and scale reduces flow, impedes the ability to remove VOCs, reduces oxygen solubility, and may increase the presence of inorganics such as iron and manganese. Blue Earth Products developed an in-place, chemical cleaning process for cleaning fouled air stripper media to restore performance at a fraction of replacement costs. Chemically cleaning improves system performance, extends operational life, and maintains greater stability in water quality.
Our lab will perform a Packed Tower Media Sample to determine a treatment plan to address the type of scale present.
Water Infrastructure Surfaces

Over time, deposits build up on water infrastructure surfaces such as filter walls, troughs, tank walls, clear wells, and clarifiers. These deposits contribute to unsightly stains, chlorine demand, the formation of disinfectant byproducts, and nitrification. Deposits also cause corrosion and reduce the useful life of protective-surface coatings.
Conventional cleaning methods such as washouts or power washing are labor intensive, time consuming, and damaging to protective coatings. Our products are applied offline as a low-pressure spray and then rinsed off with water for a safe and easy application.
