The bacterium that causes Legionnaires disease was found in water samples taken at the Luxor hotel-casino this month after a recent guest died of the form of pneumonia. Two other Luxor guests have also been confirmed with Legionnaires’ disease.
Legionella bacteria thrive in water systems and infect people when they breathe in mist or vapor that has been contaminated. Cooling towers and warm water systems are common sources for outbreaks. These cases of Legionnaires’ disease could have been prevented with proper water treatment and testing procedures. One of the ways hotel water systems can do this is by using Clearitas® to treat their water systems and cooling towers.
Clearitas takes a proactive approach to Legionella prevention by removing the organic and inorganic films and scales that harbor and protect the bacteria in the water system. By removing the biological substrates that shelter the bacteria, traditional disinfectants, such as chlorine, become more effective at remediating Legionella infections.
Discover how Clearitas can help you control and prevent Legionella outbreaks by discovering the powerful science that makes Clearitas so powerful.
